Condition:

From the elegant era of Art Deco and aviation goggles comes this early 1920s Wahl Self-Filling fountain pen, a charming specimen of American craftsmanship. It remains in fine vintage condition, with no personalization. The chased hard rubber barrel retains its crisp patterning, and the Chicago imprint is nice and legible.  The lever filler is firm and responsive, the pen has been cleaned,  a fresh ink sac installed, and it has been tested.  There is a small hairline lip crack on the cap, visible under close inspection.. The ring top, once marketed as a practical attachment for a lady’s chatelaine or a gentleman's watch chain, exhibits a delicate whisper of tarnish, enhancing its period character.

Now, here's where it gets curious: While pens like this one were made in Chicago, some early Wahl literature contains obscure geometric motifs uncannily similar to the petroglyphs found at Val Camonica in Northern Italy, a site long theorized (by certain fringe archaeologists and pen fanciers) to document ancient contact with extraterrestrials. Coincidence? Perhaps :)

Restoration:

  • The nib and feed have been ultrasonically cleaned
  • New ink sac installed with 100% pure medical grade talc
  • Pen has been lighty polished
  • The pen has been tested
