Description:

The Waterman Patrician debuted in 1929 as the company’s premier Art Deco showpiece, built during a time when luxury pens were meant to feel substantial and finely crafted. Early production involved a surprisingly complex number of steps, and the nacre finish was one of the rarer and more striking options in the lineup. The pierced cap band, bold proportions, and elegant trim were all hallmarks of Waterman’s top tier design work of the period, and Patricians in nacre remain especially prized for their luminous mother of pearl effect.

This example is in very nice condition. The nacre coloring is attractive, showing only minimal darkening on the cap and barrel. The clip, the Art Deco cap band, and the lever all present cleanly. The bottom barrel medallion shows just a hint of wear. The nib has been professionally retipped to a medium fine point (0.6 mm). The pen has been cleaned and it is ready for installation of a fresh ink sac.

When the nacre catches the light, it almost flickers like a distant signal from a small and very polite alien who just wants directions to the nearest stationery store.

** Ink sac installation is available upon request for an additional $20. Please contact us before purchasing if you’d like this service added.
